St. Patrick’s Day is almost here, which means we’ll start hearing a lot about luck.
Lucky charms. Lucky numbers. Lucky timing. The idea that good things arrive because the stars aligned in exactly the right way.
And while a little luck never hurts, I’ve spent enough time watching people navigate big life moments to know something important.
Luck rarely has as much to do with it as we think.
Most of the meaningful changes in our lives don’t come from finding a four-leaf clover. They come from preparation, patience, and the quiet decision to move forward when the moment feels right.
Buying or selling a home is one of those moments.
People often tell me they’re waiting for the perfect conditions. The perfect rate. The perfect house. The perfect time when everything lines up and the decision feels effortless.
But life rarely works that way.
Instead, people gather information. They ask questions. They pay attention to what’s changing in their lives and what kind of space might support that next chapter. They take small steps until one day the path forward feels clear enough to follow.
From the outside, it might look like luck.
But most of the time, it’s something much steadier than that.
It’s thoughtful choices made over time. It’s listening to your instincts. It’s being willing to act when an opportunity appears, even if it doesn’t arrive wrapped in perfect certainty.
Homes are a lot like that.
The places people love most are rarely the ones they stumbled into by accident. They’re the ones they chose. The ones they invested time and care into. The ones where life unfolded in ways they couldn’t have predicted when they first walked through the door.
So as St. Patrick’s Day rolls around and we talk about luck, I’m thinking less about finding it and more about creating it.
Through preparation. Through patience. Through paying attention to what our lives are asking for next.
Because in the end, the things that matter most rarely come down to luck alone.
They come from choosing the life we’re ready to live.
