There’s something about the 4th of July that makes me think about porches.
Maybe it’s the memory of sparklers glowing against a backdrop of fireflies. Or the neighbors gathered with mismatched lawn chairs and paper plates loaded with too much potato salad (as if that’s a thing). Or maybe it’s just the simple, sweet joy of watching fireworks from your own front steps, drink in hand, surrounded by people who know your dog’s name.
It’s easy to get swept up in the big, loud celebrations—and hey, I love a good fireworks show as much as anyone—but what I’ve come to appreciate more are the quieter moments of freedom.
The freedom to build a life where your feet feel steady.
The freedom to paint your walls bright yellow if you want.
The freedom to invite your people over and say, “Make yourself at home.”
Owning a home isn’t just about space. It’s about the freedom to belong.
To choose where and how you want to live.
